Oral examinations include soft-tissue examinations, hard-tissue examinations, and dental-related examinations of the oral cavity. Soft tissue examination includes soft tissue shape, color, texture or not. Hard tissue examination includes morphological and structural abnormalities.

Dental examination includes caries and defects of dental tissue, abnormal number and shape of teeth, oral hygiene examination, periodontal tissue examination, auxiliary examination including radiographic examination, X-ray film, tooth cold examination, hot examination, percussion, loosening degree inspection, etc.
